  Enrollment Guidelines

Classification of Students

A student may enroll at the School of Graduate Studies as:
  1. A FULL-TIME STUDENT. A full-time student is one who carries a quarter's load of nine (9) units.
  2. A PART-TIME STUDENT. A part-time student is one who carries a quarter's load of at least three (3) units.

Maximum Subject Load

Full-time students may enroll in a maximum of nine (9) units per quarter. Part-time students may enroll in a maximum of six (6) units per quarter. For meritorious cases, a part-time student may handle more than six (6) units upon the approval of the Dean of Graduates Studies.

Revision of Subject Load

A graduate student shall be allowed to revise his load only if he has earned a grade of "7" (INCOMPLETE) or "5" (FAILURE) in a subject prerequisite to an enrolled subject.

Registration in a Subject

Any graduate student who enrolls in any subject and who subsequently pays its corresponding fees shall as a rule, report to and attend the class in that subject from the start of classes. Failure to do so shall mean a grade of "8" (ABSENT) in the subject unless he officially drops it through the Registrar's Office and merits a grade of "9" (DROPPED).

Official Dropping of Subject

A graduate student wishing to drop a subject after the "revision of load" period must fill up the Official Dropping Form (ODF) at the Registrar's Office.

A student desiring to drop a subject must do so not later than two weeks after the start of the preliminary examinations. Any student who is allowed by the Registrar to drop the course for justification reasons shall be given a grade of "9" 9DROPPED).

No dropping of subject shall be entertained after he deadline set by the Registrar's Office.

Cross-Enrollment

A student of the Master of Engineering Program may cross-enroll in a total of not more than nine (9) graduate credits in other schools involved in the consortium, if the course or its equivalent is not offered at Mapúa and upon the approval of the Dean of Graduate Studies.
Cross-enrollment is not allowed in the graduate programs.

Audit course

Audit courses may be offered upon request and after approval of the instructor concerned. Auditing students who wish to attend a course for the information it offers need not acquire a grade and is therefore not expected to accomplish the paper work required by the course.
Auditing students shall pay the same fees required of non-auditing students.

Leave of Absence/ Cancellation of Enrollment

Student Leave of Absence

A graduate student who plans to discontinue his studies for one (1) or more quarter must apply for a STUDENT LEAVE OF ABSENCE before the end of the current quarter.

A graduate student who has applied for leave of absence must file for reactivation upon his return during the enrollment period.

Cancellation of Enrollment

Any graduate student who wishes to discontinue his studies during the quarter must notify the Registrar in writing within two weeks from the beginning of classes. The cancellation shall take effect only upon the receipt of his application for the cancellation by the Registrar. Non-compliance with this requirement shall result in the forfeiture of the student's right to any refund of fees paid by him.
